Six Days to Go

I know that I have deserted the 100 day challenge concept but I thought I would check in as there are only SIX days to go.

I am amazed at the changes that have happened in the last 100 days, and I am blessed that some of you have found your own way to peace and joy by giving up the goal focused mentality.

However, I do miss the community that we built and wonder if there was a way of rallying together to help each other out without turning it into another challenge.

Any thoughts on how we could continue to support and encourage each other through another 100 days? Is there another approach?

As we all face the toughest time of the year with Christmas parties, family celebrations and holidays, it would be good to have somewhere to go when the going gets tough.

I am all ears.

The Bones Boss Speaks - When Do You Lose a Skinny Bone?

This is when you will NOT lose a bone for missing your goals

(1) Circumstances beyond your control aka life gets in the way
Examples
- you are sick
- your friend, mother, partner or child is sick and you have to take care of them
- you are injured
- you have to work late
- you are travelling or worse - camping
- when you have PMT
- your kitchen is being remodelled and you don't have any way to cook

(2) When you trade one goal for a better one
Examples
- you have sex instead of training
- you stay up late to help a friend
- you eat the burnt toast your daughter made you for mother's day
- you don't drink your water because you need to sit through a dentist visit without having to pee (not sure that is better?)

(3) When you change your priorities (and adjust your goals)
Examples
- when training 6 times a week is too exhausting so you add in an extra rest day
- when you discover you have dietary issues when you eat truck loads of vegetables so you cut back
- when eating low carb leaves you shattered or eating low fat makes you hungry so you adjust
- when you run out of time to get to all your goals so you just focus on the most important ones
- when when you find that writing articles is not as enjoyable as writing blog posts so you change your goal to "writing" every day.

You only lose a bone when you miss a goal if you
- gave up - couldn't be bothered - decided to quit - had a tantrum - got the shits - stopped fighting - wallowed in self pity - zoned out - forgot to show yourself respect.

As long as you have good intentions and try your hardest to make the best choices - then you are a success and your skinny bones remain intact.

Skinny Bones 100 Day Challenge - Q&A

What is the point of this challenge?
For 100 days we are committing to doing at least one thing every single day so that it becomes a good habit or NOT doing something to break a bad habit. As this is a health and fitness blog we are focused on getting fit, getting in shape and leading a healthier lifestyle. The concept of the Skinny Bones 100 Day Challenge.

How much does it cost?
It's FREE

What do I do if I make a mistake and miss one day? Have I failed? Do I have to start all over again?
Failing is a given on this challenge because no-one is perfect. You can f*ck up 10% of the time. We have this currency called Skinny Bones and you get 10 to start with. Any time you think you've 'failed' you have to convince the rest of the team that you deserve to sacrifice one of your bones. If you make it to the end of the challenge with at least one bone, you made it!

And the good thing is you can complete bonus tasks and get bonus bones. So if you are getting a bit low on bones you can get some back, or you can bank them for future disasters.

There are no re-starts because life is not a dress rehearsal - just keep going and you'll be making great progress.

Do I have to have a blog? Do I have to blog here?

100 Days seems a long time -- I can barely go 2 weeks without stuffing up?
We have split the challenge into 10 Phases of 10 Days each. Each Phase has a set of bonus tasks, an invitation to post on a particular subject (the mid point challenge) and some other things I'm going to invent along the way. Check in is on day 90, 80, 70 etc. (we are counting down to 0).

Phase One -- X Marks the Spot -- set goals and track them
Phase Two -- Assembling the Crew -- recruit your support team
Phase Three -- Setting Sail -- leaving the past behind
Phase Four -- Stormy Weather -- when the going gets tough
Phase Five -- Mutiny -- your body and mind is rebelling
Phase Six -- Leaky Boat -- your motivation has drained away
Phase Seven -- Land Ahoy! -- the end is in sight
Phase Eight -- On Dry Land -- the hard part is over
Phase Nine -- Following the Map -- almost there
Phase Ten -- Finding the Treasure -- your reward awaits
